The Studio
| To insiders the Morrisound - Studio in Tampa has been the " Abbey Road of heavy metal " for years - and there's a lot of insiders who besides music & bands are interested in background info. " At least three times a week European tourists are standing in front of the building taking pictures of their kids in front of our sign, or asking to see Scott Burns or my brother Tom ", according to Jim Morris. |
The Morrisound crew has also contributed their qualitatively pretentious share to the history of Savatage. Not accidentally, Jim remarks that he wouldn't be doing this job if it wasn't for devoted and professionally eminent musicians such as Jon Oliva.
Even though the studio is amongst the biggest in Florida, it's a rather small facility compared to the wellknown names in New York and L.A.
| Jim: " In Frankfurt or
Saarbrucken ( Germany ), where I have worked with Wicked
Maraya on their debut, everyone knew my name. That would
not be the same in L.A. Besides heavy metal fans, hardly
anyone knows us in the USA. We've got our regular
customers, bands like Saigon Kick and Death, that keep
coming back again and again, because they value the
personal atmosphere that we are working in, and because
we are a lot cheaper than the studios in the music
metropoles or in Miami." Jim Morris and Chris Caffery in Morrisound's backyard. |
