Savatage
and Vicious Rumors
in hardrockcenter SCUMOn saturday, november 2nd the
American bands Savatage and Vicious Rumors will be
playing in hardrockcenter Scum in Katwijk. This 'concert
of the year'will be opened by Vicious Rumors, a band, in
existence since 1985, that has delivered four incredibly
great albums. One of them was "Soldiers Of The
Night', in 1985 on Mike Varney's Shrapnel label.
A spectacular album
thanks to the presence of the at the time still unknown
star guitarist Vinnie Moore.
But following the release of this LP Moore left the band
and was replaced by Mark McGee.
Singer Gary St. Pierre also had to step out and was
followed up by Carl Albert.
With this line-up the next album "Digital Dictator
"was recorded, followed by an extended US tour and a
sublime performance on the Aardschokdag in 1989.
The next album by the San Francisco quintet was simply
entitled 'Vicious Rumors', again a very strong album that
got them a spot at the Dynamo Open Air festival.
Recently, their latest work was released which was also
the reason for the world tour, 'Welcome To The Ball'.
Fans of great hardrock with lots of guitars can't afford
to miss this one !
After Vicious Rumors,
it's time for Savatage (see picture), a band that has
been around for several years, but hasn't yet had a
breakthrough.
The brothers Criss and Jon Oliva are the creative brain
behind Savatage; together with drummer Steve Wacholz they
form the core of the band.
Apart from the fact that bassist Keith Collins was
replaced by John Middleton in 1985, the line-up has been
constant.
Savatage already have an entire list of albums to their
name, amongst them the legendary debut 'Sirens",
'The Dungeons Are Calling', 'Power Of the Night', 'Hall
Of The Mountain King', 'Fight For The Rock'and 'Gutter
Ballet'.
With the last one brand new in the record stores, they
performed as headliner at the prestigeous Dynamo Open Air
Festival in 1989.
Before this tour will start an up until now nameless LP
will be released, that will be promoted during this
smashing Double Bill.
Starting 8:00 pm the
doors of our new building at the Noordduinseweg in
Katwijk will be open, and tickets will be only Dfl.
17,50. Make sure you're not too late !
